The Nunavut Broadband Development Corporation has an office and full-time staff in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

The Executive Director Position is currently vacant.

Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director is responsible for managing the overall operations of the not-for-profit corporation and its operating subsidiaries.  This includes overseeing all projects and managing finances, contracts, government relations, stakeholder communications, and fundraising. 

Former Staff

Oana Spinu joined NBDC in October 2009 as Project Manager, then took on the role of Executive Director in June 2010 until 2016. Previously, she was the Senior Advisor, Innovation and Technology, with the Government of Nunavut’s Economic Development and Transportation (EDT) department. Prior to this position she spent close to a decade leveraging ICT in the not-for-profit and arts sectors. Ms Spinu worked with Igloolik Isuma Productions and Arnait Video Productions on numerous interactive media projects, film and video productions; was involved in researching and developing streaming and telepresence tools for CA*net4 and similar large bandwidth networks at Montreal’s Societé des arts technologiques, and worked as a New Media Associate at the Banff Centre for the Arts.

In her own words, “My interest is to see a robust ICT Infrastructure in Nunavut that enables creativity and innovation, that can be a tool for development (whether personal, social, cultural or economic), and that gives Nunavummiut the power to communicate with each other and the world, on their terms.”
